Degree Programmes, Singapore MBA
Programme Introduction

The Leeds Singapore MBA (General, Finance, International Business) programmes offered by the Leeds University Business School will be taught by Leeds faculty in Singapore. The 24month part-time MBA programmes (maximum time taken to complete the programme is 3 years from point of entry), integrate the conceptual and empirical to form a framework to help students understand key issues and processes taking place in management so as to prepare them for career advancement or for further postgraduate study.

The programmes give wide coverage and awareness of subbjects, and take diagnostic approach to the issues at hand and introduce tools of intervention that will help students apply theory taught in each module to real issues in the working world.

Assessment & Methodology

To fulfill the 120 credit graduation requirements, students must undertake 12 taught modules, each worth 10 credits from a selection of 16. Five common modules are compulsory for all three MBAs, while others are designated accordingly depending on the student's academic path in either the Leeds Singapore MBA (General), Leeds Singapore MBA (Finance), or Leeds Singapore MBA (International Business).

MBA (Finance) Compulsory Modules

PLUS 3 other optional modules above International Business

MBA (International Business) Compulsory Modules

PLUS 3 other optional modules above

Total 120 credits

 


Notes:

1. Must be taken before all financial related modules
2. Note that International Finance and Financial Derivatives can only be taken if Corporate Finance has been taken.




All modules are run Executive-style in four day blocks, from 9am - 6pm, on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with a break on Monday, fully-conducted by teaching staff from the Business School. The advantage of the four-day teaching blocks is that it allows executives to pursue the MBA disruption-free amidst their heavy schedule, which may often times include overseas travel in the course of their work.

Regional Recruitment.
Participants from neighbouring countries can take advantage of the four-day block by coming to Singapore to attend classes and returning home thereafter, without having to leave their job to pursue the Leeds MBA.


END-OF-MODULE ASSESSMENT
will either be by examination or by assignment, held or due six weeks from the final day of the four-day block (Please refer to detailed time-table provided in the programme structure for all relevant deadlines). For modules assessed by examinations, students must attain an average of 50% on all modules. One resit/resubmission will be permitted with a maximum possible mark of 50% on all modules but about 39% to raise the average. The Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration will be awarded in the event a candidate achieve a Pass grade of 40%+ in programme components totalling 80 credits.

A record of 75% attendence at all lectures and tutorials on each module is required for the award of the credits. This may be waived at the discretion of the Course Director, in only exceptional circumstances.


Admission Criteria
Applicants for the programme should possess a first degree from a recognised university or equivalent professional qualifications, preferably with at least three years work experience and competence in English. The admission of mature students who do not meet the preceeding requirements will be on a case-by-case basis.

  • 2 certified true copies of all transcripts
  • 2 completed referee forms
  • 2 IC-sized colour photographs
